Set in the heat of a Kingston summer, a Chinese-Jamaican teenager comes to terms with her family’s racial prejudice whose rigid sentiments and responsibilities prevent her from being with the boy she loves.

Writer/Director Erin Nene-Lee Ramirez is a Chinese-Jamaican and Dominican filmmaker originally from New Hampshire. His work (which explores themes of identity, immigration, and race) investigates the dualities and contradictions within society, with the intention to form a more liberated and collective future. His non-fiction and narrative projects oftentimes center queer characters and their experiences and employs both social realism and cinema verité styles to bring audiences closer to their protagonists.

Erin’s work has been supported by NeXt Doc as well as the Sundance Institute, where he most recently earned the Sundance Latine COLLAB Scholarship. His work has garnered Student Academy Award semi-finalist recognition, been published on Fusion.net, Annenberg Media, exhibited at the LA Municipal Art Gallery, and included in numerous film festivals and awards ceremonies around the country, including NewFest, Outfest Fusion, St. Louis International Film Festival, Oaxaca FilmFest, and others.
